The Euro: Still Strong after 10 Years

I have read a topic of the Euro through a newspaper a couple of days ago. At first, 11 European countries adopted the euro on 1, January, 1999. The euro replaced currencies such as the French Franc, the Italian lira, and the German mark. The euro’s purpose is to unify the European community. However, all the European Union (EU) countries don’t use the euro. The euro has helped join EU countries’ economic interests. Today, 16 European countries use the euro. Even though the global economic recession, so far the euro has remained stable. More and more the euro’s value has increased. The euro rose as high as against the U.S dollar in 2008. Also, foreign investment has increased as well. I think EU’s plan is good idea that uses the same currency. It means the euro can ease trade and travel. For example, European who use euro can buy their good things cheaper and easier. I think to share currency is very useful and helpful system in the economic side.

Iran's Government Controls Their History

In Iran, Information Gets Out Despite Government Control

I recently have read an interesting story about Iran. When history-making events were announced around the world, many media brought the events to the public. throught the media we can know how and why these events happend. However, Iran is different. In Iran, if the informations of Iran are bad news, Iran government banned that the media informed the public about bad news or events of Iran. If some marchers or some reporters didn't keep the rule, the government would be killed or would be arrested. The public could talk to someone by only phone or email. But this is the Internet age and many protesters use the internet. however, Iran government also might omit or changes the facts on the internet. Also, the government often blocked many internet sites and text messages from cell phones. Thus, the cell phone service is often down. To be brief, Iran's governmet's intension is to stop the world from knowing what is going on Iran. I think the more Iran government control the facts or information about history-making events of Iran, the more the protesters and the reporters would think that they need to tell the public about the truth.

U.S Military Is Hiring Foreigners

I have recently read about a new plan of the U.S government. The U.S Military needs workers to help the war effort. The U.S Military lacks workers with medical and languages skills, so they plan to fill 1,000 job openings. The plan recruits foreign people who do not have green cards. And then, they can get the U.S citizen card after 5 months. These days, the Military needs brain doctors and skin doctors, because many soldiers with brain and burn injuries return from Iraq and Afghanistan. However, the U.S Military lacks workers of health care, so they decided to use foreign workers. Next, the Military plan to hire speakers of several foreign languages. They will use to serve as translators, or in military, and in intelligence roles. However, new recruits must pass the same physical, mental, and skill tests that anyone who joins the armed forces must pass. I think the U.S government plan is a good idea, because the Military offers the chance to work for foreign people to want to work. However, the U.S government may be likely to use weakness of people who want to work in U.S., but do not have green cards.

Cause and Effect

Have you heard that butterfly in the Amazon effect? It has originated from that a butterfly flapping it's wings in one area of the world, causing a tornado or some such weather event to occur in another remote area of the world. I think that It means extravagant results could be caused by a small thing.

Also, These days, I have read a novel, "Pay it Forward". The novel's story is how one child who believe in the goodness of human nature chages the world. we can infer the relationship between cause and effect from the novel.

I found out a common thing from the novel and the butterfly effect's theory. It is that even though something is an unimportant thing, we should not ignore it because it could make important things and result. Therefore, I think that everything we have is able to become important and strong result in some moment. In other words, I think there is no useless things in our lives.

Strict Tobacco Controls

These days, the U.S government is planing new law about smoking. The new law is for smoker.

For example, first, the tobacco companies have to reduce nicotine levels in cigarettes. Second, the companies have to be required new warning in the cigarettes' cover one of both sides of pack. Also, they can not mention their cigarette with words like "light" or "mild" on the cigarettes' pack. And so on. the government would help save the smokers. Also, the government wants to protect children and teenagers. However, I think the government might interfere in the tabacco companies too much.

According the article, I found out one interesting thing. It is that President Obama has struggled to quit smoking himself. He will sign the new law about tobacco but he has not quit smoking. Obama is also a smoker. He knows that how difficult to quit smoking. If the new law will be sign by the President, many tobacco companies would be hard to keep the rule.

However, I think that the more the tobacco rule is strict, the more smokers have to realize that the cigarette will be harmful for people. I hope the new law of tobacco will change the smokers' lives.

Farmer's market in LA

Last saturday, I went to the farmers market in Santa Monica with my friends and classmates. When I saw the market, it looked like a kind of American parties. The market atmosphere was different from general store such as whold food. First, the farmers market is only opened a specified time so if you want to go there, you have to know their working time previously. Second, the farmers market has also various grocery as whole food store.there are organic vegetables, delicious foods in the farmers market. when I went there, I also saw one of interesting groceries that I have ever seen. I heard the farmers market is one of well-known markets. So,there were many people and foods and the farmers market was full of active so I could understand why the farmers market is popular in the U.S. However, the farmers market groceries was not cheap that I thought because I thought the groceries was organic for good health. Anyway, I had a good experience on the U.S. independent day :)
